Salgant was born in Gondolin, back in the days of peace and plenty. He was the only child of the Lord of the House of the Harp, and from both his parents inherited an unusual musical talent. Some say his compositions are less subtle than his father's, and his voice less fine, but Salgant is nonetheless counted one of the best musicians in Gondolin. His instrument of choice is a great golden harp, and he frequently produces commission pieces for all manner of public events. He also likes to amuse himself by writing playful (or sarcastic) comic songs about his fellow noblemen, or the political undercurrents of the city, as he percieves them.

Accustomed to luxury, pleasure and fine living, Salgant has grown rather plump in his years in the Hidden City. He prefers to think of himself as well-built and sturdy. He is not a warrior by nature, and hardly ever by choice: he did not fight in the Nirnaeth (although composed several touching ballads about it afterward).

Recently, he has acquired both a fosterson, to whom he is teaching music and lordship, and a lover.
